Dr Don Osborne

Dr Don Osborne completed his Medical Degree at the University of Adelaide in 1993. He moved to Newcastle the following year and it was here, that he completed both his basic surgical training and orthopaedic training.

After finishing his orthopaedic training, he spent time in Italy and Melbourne doing fellowships.

Dr Osborne returned to the region in 2004 and commenced practice in both the private and public hospital systems. He specialises in arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery of the knee and shoulder.

Dr Osborne continues his education by attending conferences and workshops as both a participant and facilitator, domestically and internationally, to further his knowledge and skills, ensuring patients receive up to date and clinically proven treatment.

He maintains membership of international and Australian professional bodies. His commitment to ongoing education actively involves the teaching of medical professionals, junior doctors and medical students through the University of Newcastle. He supervises orthopaedic trainees for the Australian Orthopaedic Association and assists them in preparation for their final exams, both as a mentor and trial examiner.

He has also offered a fellowship (this is not currently running ), to  provide a one-year period of further training  to  fully qualified surgeons who wished to further sub specialise.  Fellows have come from the UK, Iraq, Indonesia, Norway and Australia.
